From Metla Bulletin: "Baltic countries rely on wood products industry"
The forestry industry is one of the most important industrial production sectors in the Baltic countries. A lively and growing wood products industry and the share of exported industrial roundwood are common features for all three Baltic countries – Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. Finland, for example, is one of the key areas of exported roundwood for the Baltic countries.
The cuttings of industrial roundwood in the Baltic countries amount to approximately half of similar cuttings in Finland (Figure 1). In Estonia, almost half of all cut roundwood is exported. In 2010, the total amount of exported industrial roundwood from the Baltic countries to Finland was 1.8 million cubic metres.
